A Land's Cultural Ambition

La Fabrique is a project in line with the municipality’s determination to support emerging artists and new forms of creation as well as to address the expectations of artists and designers. The objective is to help those projects grow in a favorable environment, thereby promoting the dynamics of cultural innovation.

La Fabrique is a tool that provides spaces where art projects can emerge and grow. Jointly managed by the City of Nantes and local associations, it aims to promote emerging and innovative practices. These living areas are open to all, with a view to building bridges between art and society, as the creative work of artists serves as an inspiration to the daily lives of others.

Broadcasting and showing

With an auditorium of a capacity of 1,200 called MAXI, a modular room called MICRO with a standing capacity of 400, and a showcasing area that can accommodate an additional 100 visitors (LA PLACE), La Fabrique promotes versatility by playing all forms of amplified music and showing multimedia or cross-disciplinary creative works.

Training and practice

La Fabrique aims at supporting creative people in their personal and professional growth through workshops, conferences, outreach initiatives, networking, etc. The target audience ranges from the general public to artists and technicians, not forgetting NTIC engineers and researchers.

Creation and experimentation

The project’s main purpose is to aid the creative process. The spirit of creation should permeate the venue, either in the form of occasional collaborative work or through rehearsals and residencies. We believe that it is through empirical research and experimentation that the thinking and creative processes move forward.

Information and resources

The resource department centralizes information, providing answers to all comers, be they emerging or seasoned artists, spurred by mere curiosity or in the need for career guidance.
